Long time ago, I started my career as a Faculty in a technology-management institute. Quite reputed those days. I would personally recommend that if you are young, want to be a very well groomed professional – begin your career by training people. Helps you a lot. Has helped me a lot.
I would have preferred to be a trainer in flex – maybe now also. If i ever get an opportunity, sure i will, here’s my style.
- I would never give my students Adobe Flex installed computer…this of-course is for the practicals.
- What i would do is give them this URL and ask them to try the exercises -http://try.flex.org/
It’s important for freshers to get better-hold on any subject that they type the syntax’s! People who have come the hard-way up have always been my inspiration!
Flex and SilverLight April 20, 2007

An incident in a typical joint family environment! You might be able to relate; else I guess it’s no rocket science…
My niece over three years…her tantrums are something admirable. She can sing the latest or rather hum….put some great steps for the best song and ask you questions which is quite tough to answer! She plays…it’s amazing how she adapts to the new toys…still more is the she handles them: with care!!! The amount of appreciation she gets…man it’s tough to believe!
It’s been over 5 months now with my daughter is in….people have already began to shift the focus….she draws more attention. More attention with fewer abilities…at 5 months old it’s tough to dance for example…
Today in the world of RIA – flex can be nominated as my ‘neice’ and silverlight …I guess this is a very common! Be it the technology world or a simple joint family! We tend to accept new technologies and over-react to any silly/simple “tantrums” when they are young! We should wait and watch – if at all (in the first place) this is a battle! The amount of blogs, messages in tech groups, well I would leave it there!
Flex has been in the industry – has matured into a great technology…will continue to dominate!
SliverLight is in it’s infancy I guess…and I guess we should give it some time to mature…who knows?

Pretty Wife March 23, 2007

Once I asked my boss “Boss why is User experience so important?”, this was some years back.
“pD, everyone wants a pretty wife”!
It’s so true! You might have the best “features” like, understanding, good cook, caring, loving, etc. but marriage happens on the first sight – all you see is how pretty she is! Guys you will argue this, for sure!
Selling an app to a prospect is trying to make a marriage! show him a pretty looking girl, he’ll compromise to a certain extent on the features set!
Great UI’s have simple, pretty looking interfaces. These interfaces speak the list of features themselves!
So the next time you think of selling a app, think about skinning the same – else the “marriage” wont happen.
Here’s how you can create great skins in Flex.

Here’s a way to take the same Tissue paper (napkin) effect into your demos, prototype etc. It’s really a cool effect and serves the purpose.
Easy to implement!
